[FIX] ‘Can’t Download Forza Motorsport: Apex’ from Microsoft Store

The “Can’t Download Forza Motorsport: Apex” problem in the Microsoft Store usually shows a disabled install button with a message like “To use this app, you’ll need a device with more features,” even on capable PCs. This shows the Store is marking the system as not meeting the game’s needs, which usually means a missing Windows 10 November Update (build 1511), not enough DirectX 12 support, or old graphics drivers.

The main cause is using an older Windows 10 build, while other causes include unfinished Windows updates or GPU features that are not supported.

Now that you know the potential culprits, here’s a list of methods to help you identify and fix the problem:

1. Check the Minimum Requirements

Before blaming anything else, first make sure your PC is powerful enough to run the game.

Keep in mind that the Microsoft Store can prevent you from downloading the game if it detects your computer does not meet the minimum requirements.

Here are the minimum system requirements for Forza Motorsport 6: Apex:

2. Reset the Microsoft Store component

4. Scroll down to the Reset section and click Reset to start the process. Wait for it to complete.
5. When it finishes, reboot your computer and check if the issue is resolved after startup.

2.2. Reset Microsoft Store via CMD window

1. Open a Run dialog box by pressing Windows key + R. Next, type ‘cmd’ and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter to open an elevated Command Prompt. When prompted by UAC (User Account Control), click Yes.

   

2. In the elevated Command Prompt, type the following command and press Enter to reset the Microsoft Store and its dependencies:

    wsreset.exe

3. After the command runs successfully, restart your computer and test the download again.

3. Disable the Integrated Graphics Card (if applicable)

If you have a laptop with both a dedicated GPU and an integrated GPU, the Store’s requirement check might only detect the integrated GPU and treat it as your main graphics card, which can block the download.

Several users fixed the problem by disabling the integrated GPU, forcing Windows to use the dedicated graphics card by default.

This is worth trying if resetting the Microsoft Store didn’t help.
